REFUGIO DE ANIMALES ANNUAL FUNDRAISER 2007

The Refugio’s annual fundraiser party known to most as the Rice Table (aka Rijstaafel) is

being held at the home of Penny Santomenno’s on Sunday, March 11th at 12:30pm.

Tickets are 30,000 colones/pp ($60) and that includes all the tasty Asian dishes and

beverages (wine, beer, sodas etc) that you can eat and drink. Since all food and beverage

are donated, 100% of the proceeds will go to the animal shelter. This year’s goal is to

raise enough funds to purchase an EKG machine and some lab equipment to provide

faster and more accurate healthcare to our furry friends. It’s a fun party and it’s full of

animal lovers so please join us!


Penny’s house is located north of San Rafael de Heredia. From the church in San Rafael,

go 4 1/2km north on the road to Monte Cruz (same road to Hotel Tirol and Hotel

Condessa). Turn right at the entrance to Residencia Castillas (which is ½ mile north of

the Refugio de Animales) and go for about 1 mile to the guard house. Pass by the guard

house and continue until the road ends. Turn left and go up 3 streets to Gavilan. Turn

right onto Gavilan and continue until the streets ends and turn right onto Lobos. Follow

that road until the pavement ends which is only about 200 meters. You’ll see a white

picket fence on the left with a small house inside the entrance. Follow the driveway down

towards the big house where a parking attendant will guide you from there.
